It’s 2022! How though? A new year means a new Pantone Color of the Year. 2022’s color of the year is “Very Peri.” This unique shade of periwinkle is fun and will bring life to any space that needs a fresh start.
The color pairs well with Kelly Green, hot pink, shades of lavender, red, and orange. It also looks great with metallics, especially gold, and neutrals including white and grey.
Very Peri, by nature, is a feminine color. However, it could be made a bit more masculine by pairing with lots of black.
Leatrice Eiseman, the Executive Director of the Pantone Institute, says the color, “…displays a spritely, joyous attitude and dynamic presence that encourages creativity and imaginative expressions.” For this reason, Very Peri is the perfect color for a teenage girl’s room or a fun and funky home office for the creative.
It can work in big or small spaces. If used in a small space, it can be lightened up by pairing it with white. If used in a larger space, make it more cozy by using throw pillows in warm colors (like red and orange).
Very Peri could be a great color for your walls if you are ready to make a bold statement. But, if you are a little more apprehensive about diving into this new color, you could always create a neutral background and use Very Peri as your accent. Throw in a cute print on the wall or a pillow in this color and let it grow on you before you commit.
Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2022 is absolutely stunning and it will definitely be interesting to see how this color gets used over the next year.
